KayMac is the electronic music persona of singer-songwriter/composer/musician Kevin Mathews, first officially introduced in 2017 with two EPs viz. Ret-El 1.0 and 2.0. In 2023, KAMCO Music will be releasing several singles culminating with a 5-track EP, ‘Are Friends Electronic’. The title of the new EP is obviously a tribute to the classic Tubeway Army/Gary Numan breakthrough 1979 single “Are Friends Electric?”.

In fact, it’s fair to say that the main influences of KayMac’s music are the 80s synth-pop pioneers of that era. For example, Kraftwerk, the aforementioned Numan, Depeche Mode, Human League, New Order, Ultravox et al. The electronic sounds of that era continue to resonate for KayMac and hence there is a retro-electronic vibe to the music.
